How to find a distributor in the UAE
For many brands, “finding a distributor in the UAE” is the first step they think of. It is worth deciding first which route fits your product, your margins and how much control you want to keep.
Three routes
A distributor buys your products and resells them through its network. A commercial agent sells on your behalf without holding stock. A third route is to work with a partner that imports, stores and distributes for you while you keep control of the brand and the commercial strategy.
What UAE distributors look for
A brand that fits their portfolio, prices that work for each channel, products that can be registered and labelled for the UAE — for cosmetics, Montaji registration in Dubai — and a plan to support sell-out in the first months.
Where to look
Sector trade shows in Dubai, chambers of commerce and business councils, the retailers and concept stores you target (find out who supplies them), and LinkedIn. Look at the brands a distributor already carries before you approach it.
What to agree before signing
Territory — one emirate, the UAE or the wider GCC — exclusivity and its duration, minimum orders, who handles registration, marketing support, payment terms and how the agreement ends. Exclusivity is better tied to objectives.
Starting without a distributor
Testing first — online, through a pop-up or with a partner that handles import, storage and distribution — lets you prove demand before negotiating, and arrive with figures.
